Ok guys, sunday the 7th of November at RMIT city campus, in the student study room (Graciously reserved by the fine people of the SFGA) is the proposed date of our first workshop.
What is a Devilberry Workshop you say?
Currently we have the following planned:
Overview of Devilberrys comic production and business plan, including the names of some useful software packages.
Basic tutorial on comic drawing as it pertains to comics, manga and non manga styled, with reccomendations on types of training and techniques to use in different styles.
Notes on commonly occuring structures in the writing of comic books/graphic novels, such as the Shonen and Shoujo manga genres, and the patterns they share with the hero's journey.
(drawing and writing materials not supplied)
And we will be hearing pitches for possible additions to the devilberry catalogue.
Hopefully there will be a good mix of artists and writers, so it will be a good oppurtunity for people to pair off and produce some very nice work.
If we get the numbers, I may be able to get a some other local indie comic guys to come along, so tell everyone!
Current estimate is that we might go from 11:00 till 1:00 on the
talking bit, and then after lunch start having some drawing practice,
comic pitching, and anything else we might need to get done.
If people are interested, maybe we can pool some cash, and get pizza
delivered for lunch, but melbourne central is very nearby, so food won't
be a problem at all.
Now that you know you know what it is, and what we'll be looking at, is there anything, mentioned here, or not, that you, the attendees, would like to focus on specifically?
Anything at all, no matter how big or small, bring it up now, so I can fit it into the plan for the day, or at least address it at some point.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Also, RVSP on the Facebook page, it helps me out with numbers.
